Many chains. One coherent instrument. That is a Peptourbillon.
A peptide alone is a single gear. Biology runs on movements. A Peptourbillon is Panacea Bio Chem's formulation architecture — several peptide chains engineered as one coherent product, with ratios, release rhythm and carrier designed together the way a watchmaker designs a tourbillon: not a pile of parts, but one instrument. Conceived by Bogdan Dicoias.
Why "tourbillon"?
In watchmaking, the tourbillon is the answer to a physics problem: gravity pulls a watch's escapement differently in every position, so the whole regulating organ is mounted in a rotating cage that averages the error away. It is the craft's emblem of engineered coherence — many parts, one purpose.
The borrowed idea
A multi-peptide formulation has the same problem class: each chain has its own stability, its own kinetics, its own behaviour in the mixture. Blend them naively and the parts fight. Engineer them as one system — the Peptourbillon — and the parts keep time together.
The discipline it implies
Ratios chosen, not rounded. Release windows staggered, not simultaneous by accident. A shared carrier designed for the combination, not borrowed from the single-ingredient shelf. Formulation as architecture, not as packaging.
The field already learned this lesson
Peptide therapeutics are a century old — insulin, 1922 — and the last decade proved, in public, that engineered combination beats single-target design. Panacea's Peptourbillon is the formulation-level expression of a direction the whole field is walking.
One molecule, two targets
Eli Lilly's tirzepatide (FDA-authorized in 2022 for type 2 diabetes) is a single engineered peptide acting on both GIP and GLP-1 receptors — and its multi-target successors, like the triple agonist retatrutide in trials, push the same logic further. Combination is where the field's frontier moved.
The reviews say it plainly
Surveys of the peptide pipeline — Lau & Dunn (2018), Muttenthaler and colleagues in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery (2021) — track the same shift: from natural sequences toward engineered, multifunctional peptide design. The citations, with links, are on The Lineage.
What a single molecule cannot do
Fusing targets into one chain is powerful but rigid: one ratio, one kinetics, frozen at synthesis. A formulation architecture keeps the chains separate and engineers the system — ratio, rhythm and carrier remain design variables.
Where Panacea stands
Panacea Bio Chem's core work is amino-acid-chain design and formulation. The Peptourbillon is the operator's named recipe concept for the combination era: a curated system of peptide combinations engineered as one coherent product.
The architecture, in one paragraph
A Peptourbillon begins with a question about signals, not about ingredients. Which chains belong in the system, at what ratio, released in what rhythm, carried in what medium — and what does the mixture do to each chain's stability and behaviour over shelf life? Panacea engineers those five variables together, in-house, using its peptide synthesis and lyophilization programmes, and validates each architecture on its own organ-chip testbeds rather than in static wells. The recipes themselves — which chains, which ratios — are Panacea intellectual property. What we publish is the concept and the craft behind it.
Named Panacea concept · recipes remain unpublished
"Anyone can pour three peptides into one vial — that is a mixture, and a mixture is an accident you have not measured yet. A Peptourbillon is the opposite: every ratio defended, every release window placed, the carrier built for the cast. A tourbillon is not a box of gears. It is the discipline that makes gears behave like one instrument."

Illustrative Peptourbillons
Three named design exercises that show what the architecture's variables mean. Each is a concept showcase — an illustration of the craft, not a product listing. Nothing below is for sale, and no therapeutic claim is made or implied.
Peptourbillon I — "Roundabout"
The sequencing exercise: three chains sharing one carrier, released in staggered windows rather than all at once. The question it teaches: in a combination, when each signal arrives is a design choice — order can matter as much as dose.
Illustrative concept — not a product, not for salePeptourbillon II — "Counterpoint"
The ratio exercise: two chains with deliberately opposing kinetics — one fast and brief, one slow and sustained — studied across a ladder of ratios. The question it teaches: the space between 1:1 and 10:1 is not interpolation; it is unexplored design territory.
Illustrative concept — not a product, not for salePeptourbillon III — "Lattice"
The architecture exercise: a structural peptide sets a scaffold first, and signalling chains occupy it — formulation as construction, where one chain's job is to build the room the others work in. The question it teaches: a combination can contain a chain whose only role is architecture.
Illustrative concept — not a product, not for saleWhat we show, and what we hold back
Everything stated here about the peptide field is public record, credited on The Lineage page. Everything stated about Peptourbillons is a statement of concept and craft — the recipes themselves remain Panacea intellectual property, the illustrative showcases are labelled as such, and this page makes no therapeutic claims.
Shown
The century of credited peptide science behind the idea, the field's public shift to combination design, the five variables a Peptourbillon engineers, and honestly labelled illustrations of each.
Held back
Which chains, which ratios, which carriers, which release profiles. The concept is the story today; specific recipes will be disclosed, if at all, with data rather than adjectives.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Peptourbillon?
Panacea Bio Chem's formulation architecture: several peptide chains engineered as one coherent product — ratios, release rhythm and carrier designed together, like a watchmaker's tourbillon.
Why combine peptides at all?
Biology rarely runs on one signal, and the field's own frontier — multi-target molecules like tirzepatide — moved to engineered combination. A Peptourbillon applies that logic at formulation level.
Are the examples products?
No — they are labelled illustrative concept showcases: named design exercises, not product listings, nothing for sale, no therapeutic claims.
Who created the concept?
Bogdan Dicoias, at Panacea Bio Chem. More on the Questions page.
